This will be MPC’s [Main Plaza Conservancy's] 7th annual Silver Bells in the City Christmas tree lighting ceremony that takes place every 1st Saturday of December. MPC partners with Bexar County and this day is filled with joy, cheer, and seasonal goodies as well as entertainment. A roving Santa Claus makes for a fantastic family photo op with the beautiful historic San Fernando Cathedral and the gorgeous Silver Bells in the City themed 25ft Christmas tree as the backdrop. Guest speakers such as the Mayor, County Judge and MPC’s Chairman of the Board light up the Christmas tree and in conjunction to the tree ceremony, the facades of the Municipal Plaza Building, Bexar County Courthouse, and San Fernando Cathedral are lit. Santa's own reindeer make an appearance grazing anticipating to be called to duty by Santa, await in their pen at the Bexar County Courthouse front lawn. The festivities continue on the Courthouse lawn providing photo ops with Santa and his Reindeer. Hot Chocolate and holiday cookies are passed out to all our guests and then it's back across the street to Main Plaza for a full evening of incredible entertainment and holiday splendor with a family-filled atmosphere in the "Heart of the City".
