Remember that Rain Rock we mentioned in our Fiesta 2016 Kickoff blog post last week? You know, the one hung on a tree in La Villita each year during Fiesta that’s supposed to ward off inclement weather? Well, that one. We’re hoping it holds up for Saturday. After all, Texas weather can be a fickle thing. Sunshine one moment and rain the next. Or, hopefully in our case, vice versa. Last year’s King William Fair was memorably hot, so, quite honestly, I’d welcome some light rain or drizzle to help cool off on what would normally be a scorching day. Plus, a little rain never hurt anyone, especially during Fiesta’s culminating weekend. So what am I getting at here? Don’t let a little (potential) rain stop you from going out and having a good time! We promise it’ll be worth it.
Ok, weather spiel done.
Bust out your Fiesta medals, cascarones, and festive hats on Saturday, April 23, as we celebrate King William Fair 2016! You’ll want to be there by at least 9 a.m. for the Fair’s not-to-be-missed vibrant and eclectic parade ― themed “Geeks in the ‘Hood” ― before hitting up all the delicious food; drink; and the slew of entertainers and arts, crafts, and specialty vendors slated to be set up this year. Festival organizers have even provided a map of the parade route.
Are you taking the little ones with you? Children 12 years old and under get in FREE! Take them to the Kids Kingdom area with plenty of games, activities, crafts, and rides to keep your youngsters entertained.
If you’re feeling festive (and competitive), join the Most Festive Beard competition following the parade. Entry is $15 for adults to compete (free for children 13 and under), and prizes will be given out for “Kids Most Festive”, “Ladies Most Festive”, and “Men’s Most Festive”. Who knows, you could leave the Fair a beard-decorating champ! Even better, proceeds will benefit Haven for Hope. It’s a win-win! (We’ll see if we can convince bribe Matthew to join the competition ― we’ll keep you posted!)

Serving up the Barbacoapparel
We’ll be bringing many of our classic adult tees ― Bean & Cheese., Carne Guisada, Come and Take It, Fideo, Cow, Donkey Lady, and more ― along with our latest Ritchieeee and Purrrro San Antonio tees. We’ll also be featuring two NEW STICKERS in addition to our current selection. And, not to to be biased, pero, they make our laptops look pretty rad.
You can also try your luck at FREE BarbacoApparel swag! Spend $15 minimum and receive a cascarón, which its contents may reveal to be a winner. Question is, who are you going to crack it on to find out?
Not sure where or how to find us? We’ll be set up on Johnson St. (between King William and Madison). Click here for the map. As you make your way around the historic King William neighborhood, be sure to stop by and see our pals Tatum, Leighelena, Sweet Craft Jewelry, Tortuga Journals, and Bolsa Bonita for some choice goods and merch. Come on out and celebrate one of Fiesta’s most popular events at the King William Fair!
See you at the Fair!
