On Saturday, April 2, 2016, thousands of avid book readers and literary lovers from all walks of life will descend upon the grounds of Central Library and the Southwest School of Art for the fourth annual San Antonio Book Festival (SABF). The event will feature approximately 90 authors; panel discussions and readings with authors; storytelling; cooking demonstrations by food and cook writers; activities and literary events for children and teens; live performances; vendors; food; and much more! Luckily the SABF has made planning easy with a full schedule of events and a complete list of authors, so now there’s no excuse to not go out and explore the adventures that await at the #sabookfest

To get you started, here are five reasons to put down your book and check out the San Antonio Book Festival.

Discover New Stories . . . Offline

Do you do most of your reading online? Caught ya! But, hey, I’m guilty too. The San Antonio Book Festival is the perfect godsend we all need to give our phones, tablets, laptops, and desktops a little rest.

Take The Kids on an Adventure

While you’re “going offline,” you can take the kids to discover their own literary interests. The book festival will feature activities where kids can help to create a story with picture book writers and illustrators, see a performance of “Jack and The Beanstalk” put on by the Magik Theatre, and discover new stories and tales by notable children’s book authors such as Xavier Garza (The Donkey Lady Fights La Llorona and Other Stories), Diane Gonzales Bertrand (A Bean and Cheese Taco Birthday), Meg Medina (Mango, Abuela, and Me), and much more.

Meet Amazing Authors

There’s truly something for everyone with such a diverse range of authors showcasing their works. Meet some of the authors of your favorite books (and even get your book signed!), engage in varying topics at panel discussions, and watch live cooking demonstrations, all at the San Antonio Book Festival!

Enjoy food, vendors, and more

No festival would be complete without some local fare-and-ware options. Yours truly will be set up at the event, so stop by and say “Hi!”

It’s Free!

‘nough said.

See you there!
